'LOVE SONG' by Irving Stettner

LOVE SONG
O you awake in me

A thousand new mes,

I'm a ship tossed gayly

On a vast bejeweled sea

O you are perfection's kiss

The flower's hidden wish

The tender touch of a child's hand

A mysterious footprint in the Egyptian sands

O you are Betelgeuse shining bright

A shooting star in the night,

Golden honey pouring from the sun

The sweet nectar of the wild rhododendron

O you are you, and I am me

But when we meet;

O hear the wild singing glee -

We touch eternity!

'BAGATELLE' by Irving Stettner

When in a tiny second
Heraldic dawn's
Pink aurora
So strafed my eye -
In a split-second
O blissful -
I didn't know whether
To laugh or cry

'SELF PORTRAIT' by Irving Stettner

Poet and painter
World forsaker
With beauty my goal
I follow in the footsteps
Of my maker
Born in Brooklyn
Reborn in Paris
Now Japan is my home:
Perpetual pretty
Gal watcher
Debauchee of cameo dawns
Devotee of of blue-tipped morns
Daily heavy walker
Incurable cosmos stalker
Entwined in the sublime
I touch the divine
And now today
In this very verily month of May -
I must sing
Or bust all my springs!

'CREDO' by Irving Stettner

O just to be alive
And of this earth
It's vast exorbitant girth
Sun-star-cloud-tree-green leaf-
Moon music
Unparalleled
Laughing-flower mirth
O just to be alive...
What in the hell more
Could a guy ask for?!
